HRV workbench: explore a day of heart rate variability
A full day of beat-to-beat heart data, with a window you slide along it. Put it on deep sleep, a hard session or the evening after a few drinks, and every chart and number follows.
The days are simulated for teaching: the direction of each effect follows published studies, and many effect sizes are teaching choices.
Everything is worked out in this browser. RR intervals you open or paste are never uploaded or saved. Privacy
How to use it
- Pick a day from the list, such as drinks in the evening or an overtraining week, or open or paste your own RR intervals from the ⋯ menu. Guided mode shows the key values with a plain explanation; Pro mode shows every chart and parameter.
- Move the window along the day overview: drag it, drag its edges to resize it, tap a quick window such as the first hours of sleep, or focus it and use the arrow keys (Shift and the arrows resize it).
- Press Compare to keep one window as A, then move the other (B) to a different part of the day. Both sets of values show side by side, and Pro mode adds a table of every change.
To work out HRV from a single short recording, use the HRV calculator. Every measure links to its entry in the glossary, from RMSSD to DFA α1.
The overview of HRV parameters lists every measure, grouped by family.
