HRV Expert app
HRV Expert is a free Android app that turns a Bluetooth chest strap into a heart rate variability (HRV) tracker. The main number is RMSSD, from a two-minute check each morning. After about two weeks, the app tells you whether you are below, within or above your own normal range.

How to get it
- Android: in closed testing on Google Play. Only people on the testers list can install it. To join, request access below with the address of the Google account on your phone. - iPhone: a version is in preparation. It is not available yet.
What it does
- A two-minute morning check with your strap, compared with your own normal range once about two weeks of checks are in.
- Trends over a week, a month, three months or a year, with optional morning questions and tags such as poor sleep or travel.
- Overnight and longer recordings, with heart rate and RMSSD every 5 minutes and each night’s resting heart rate.
- Workouts with live DFA alpha1 and estimates of your two training thresholds.
- Paced breathing with a visual pacer, and a test that finds your resonance breathing rate.
- Exports of every beat and result: RR text files, CSV, JSON, PDF reports and FIT files.
- If you want, sharing through hrv.expert: your readings with a coach from your account, and your heart rate on the live page while you train.

Chest straps
The app works with chest straps that send beat-to-beat (RR) intervals over the standard Bluetooth Heart Rate Service. Straps such as the Polar H10 and H9, Garmin HRM-Pro Plus, Wahoo TICKR, Suunto Smart Sensor, Coospo H6 and Magene H64 are expected to work.
Optical sensors worn on the arm or wrist give heart rate only. They are not suitable for HRV.

Your data
Recordings are stored encrypted on your phone. Nothing leaves it unless you turn on an integration, such as an hrv.expert account, or share a file yourself.
