Not a substitute for a doctor
The articles, lessons and tools on this site explain heart rate variability in general terms. They do not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and they cannot tell you whether you are healthy. Talk to a doctor about your own health, and before changing medication or starting a new training programme if you have a medical condition.
Tools give wellness estimates
Our tools are not medical devices. They compare numbers with published research or show general information, and the result depends on how and when the number was measured. HRV changes with sleep, stress, alcohol, illness, training, breathing and many other things, so a single reading means little on its own.
When to get help
If you have chest pain, fainting, severe shortness of breath or a heartbeat that feels very fast, very slow or irregular, contact emergency services or a doctor straight away. Do not wait to check an app or this site.
